About Me

My photo
I began drawing and painting at a very young age and knew early on that I would choose art for my life. I achieved success early on in high school and college in the arts, but after college, I felt compelled to a career in ministry and have spent many fulfilling years helping others find their purpose in life. Through the years, I continued to paint mostly for enjoyment and as an outlet, but in 2007, I realized that an important part of my own life-purpose was creating and painting. The internet, which of course was not available 25 years ago, is such a useful tool for artist, opening doors and providing exposure that would otherwise not be possible. With this new opportunity, I have been pursuing painting and marketing my art whole heartily, usually painting on a daily basis. I live in Tucson, love to jeep, love to paint and study art, and my paintings are often inspired from some remote mountain location in the high desert.

September Morning - Plein Air 8X10

September 18 - A Friday Morning: I am not a morning kind of person... In fact, I could skip mornings... every morning! But, I have tried to paint en plein air in the afternoons when the shadows are short and the sun high in the sky... "Surely it won't make too much of a difference ... besides, I will be more rested later - I don't think God is even up at 5:30 am!", I try to convince myself. Friday morning I roll out of bed, pack the jeep, pick up a "morning kind of artist friend" who inspires me to greet the dawn (A Love-Hate thing going on here), and we we are off to paint. With the intensity of the desert morning sun now shifting to softer light, the crisp in the air just days away, I discover something. Yes, indeed, God is awake at 5:30 am. Not only awake, but His glory stirs in my heart and I paint... And it does make a difference. "September Morning" was painted in oil from a private ranch at the base of the Catalina Mountains, Tucson, Arizona, on Septenber 18th, 2009. SOLD
